michael and erin visited this weekend and it was so so so great to see them.  i think owen really fell in love with erin and was enamored with michael.

gym time!

we also had our first "little gym" experience last week.  owen LOVED crawling around and hanging out with all the other kids.  

(i think he looks like a little dancer with the leggings, which are part of his halloween costume  [he's going to be a cow] but the puffy outfit didn't last long... too cumbersome for gym time!)

ps - funny story about the leggings.  the only black leggings i could find were in the girl's section, and came in a double pack... with a pair of bright pink leggings.  we put them on him at home and he pulled if off well.  as gary said, he's supporting breast cancer awareness.. duh!! :)

the cow costume made a brief appearance though (minus the headpiece)!

we had our first swim class last tuesday afternoon!  (again, yay!! for part-time!)

so when we first walked onto the pool deck owen started flapping his arms.

i'm sure he was thinking something like, "WOW!  a huuuuge bath tub.  sweet!"

needless to say, owen loved the water and had no problem going under water (though he looked a little shocked when he popped back up after a quick dip in my arms :))

i definitely think one of the best parts was the cute little "speedo" they gave him to wear:

with our little mover and shaker moving and shaking all over the house, last weekend we decided it was high time to

"baby proof" the house.  

at least the tile stairs needed a little softening up.  

owen oversaw dad's work:

this bear was a gift from one of the partners at my firm and owen loves him (or wants to eat him, i'm not quite sure) :) 

 owen with my silver baby rattle and a random beret that was mine when i was an infant.  sometimes i don't know what my parents were thinking.  (love you mom and dad! :)) but it makes for a cute picture!

and some big news!  after a lot of pursed lips, gagging and a little throw up due to flavors owen has found less than favorable, we discovered that owen likes "strawberry mish mash" (strawberries, pears and apples)! 

hooray!

and finally, as my mom says, our little "pumpkin buns" is getting ready for halloween!

first of a few update posts :)

on sunday october 16 we went to the big big big fresno fair!
(there's a jingle for the fair and i can't help but sing it in my head when i write about the "big big big fresno fair! :))

we had a lot of fun...

we made new friends:

ate fried oreos (i was super excied about trying these... liked them enough and probably will never eat them again.  it was definitely an experience):

hung out with grandpa david (who was in town) and our dear friends ryan, iana and oliva:

we also:

watched little kids ride sheep.  it was ridiculous.  these 5 and 6 year olds rode (and in some cases tried to ride) sheep like a bull rider tries to ride a bull.  crazy stuff and pretty impressive those little munchkins could hang on at all!

watched pig races (um, the pigs jumped hurdles.  hilarious.)

the last friday

it's official. 

today is my last friday at work, at least for the foreseeable future.

that's right, next week i start my part-time schedule.

this means: mommy and me swim classes on tuesday afternoons, mommy and me "gym" classes on fridays,

generally more time with owen, more time to get things done that need to get done, more time to get owen on some sort of schedule, more time to take walks, take baths, play, jump, sing... 

just MORE TIME and i could not be happier!

i'm so happy, i kinda feel like this:

6 month checkup

yesterday owen has his 6-month check up.

the stats:

height: 27"

weight: 15 lbs. 14 oz.

dr. says he's looking great and on the way out of the room he said, "he's got a great demeanor, really happy."  i mean, duh. :) still, it's such a good feeling for someone else to recognize it.

oh and something else...

owen has started crawling!

like really crawing!!

it's pretty freakin cool...

and really time to start baby proofing. :)

as of friday, october 7, 2011 owen is 6 months old!
