after going to the dr. on monday...
and after being told that mr. o had an ear infection...
and after being prescribed a 10-day dose of antibiotics for him...
and after asking whether it was reeeeeally necessary to give him antibiotics...
and after reading that the american academy of pediatrics advises that for children over 6 months, when diagnosis isn't certain and symptoms aren't severe, keeping an eye on your baby for 48 to 72 hours is recommended, to see if he gets better without antibiotics...
and because owen is almost 6 months and the dr. didn't say the ear infection looked severe...
and after consulting with papa bear, who was on the same page...
we decided to wait a day to see if mr. o got better without the medicine.
when he seemed to feel better over the next two days we made an appt for this morning for a re-check.
and i'm happy to report...
...NO ear infection whatsoever!
yay mama bear instincts.
yay owen's immune system.
and yay for our regular pediatrician. (who we saw today and is way more on the same page as us about not over-prescribing medicine, especially to babies)
after last week's mommy-fail with school picture-day, i feel totally redeemed. :)
